2024 Pit Run

This year’s race takes place on Saturday 27th April with the event starting at 12:30pm and races starting from 1pm. Online registration will open on the 10th of March and in person registration will be possible on Friday 26th April evening and Saturday 27th morning.

Harrold Centre is a registered charity which benefits the residents of Harrold, Carlton and Odell. The Pit Run has been running since 1983 with only two missed because of covid, and a shortened course in 1998 due to severe flooding.

The busy atmosphere of stalls, bar, band and runners on The Green are a great attraction for villagers and visitors alike and much appreciated as the social event of the year. Runners used to compete for the medals and the greatest sponsorship money but now donation is more common. This can be via the registration process with runners nominating one of the local societies listed or directly to Harrold Centre.

The event encompasses four races from a short kids race up to a fully marshalled 3 mile (just under 5km) race around the village of Harrold and around the lakes in the country park, the old gravel pits. Fun-runners, fancy-dressers and serious PB hunters alike all mix in at the start line in front of The Village Green. The day will finish with the raffle draw and the awarding of the bake off and race prizes.

In addition, this year there will be a bake off competition – more information here.

In tandem with the website, there is of course our Facebook page. As the day draws nearer the Facebook page is the page to follow for up-to-date information and news.

The Committee is hard at work in the background, getting everything in place to ensure the day runs smoothly.

Cheers for now!
