About

History

Harrold Centre is a registered charity which benefits the residents of Harrold, Carlton and Odell. The Pit Run has been running since 1983 with only two missed because of covid, and a shortened course in 1998 due to severe flooding.

The busy atmosphere of stalls, bar and runners on The Green are a great attraction for villagers and visitors alike and much appreciated as the social event of the year. Runners used to compete for the medals and the greatest sponsorship money but now donation is more common. This can be via the registration process with runners nominating one of the local societies listed or directly to Harrold Centre.

The event encompasses four races from a short kids race up to a fully marshalled 3 mile (just under 5km) race around the village of Harrold and around the lakes in the country park, the old gravel pits. Fun-runners, fancy-dressers and serious PB hunters alike all mix in at the start line in front of The Village Green.

There is lots to do for all the family, and this year’s event promises to bigger and better than ever. We hope to see you there!
